Seireitei

Seireitei is a circular fortress with four main entry ways guarded by Gate Keepers. These gates are called The 4 Great Pure Soul Gates (Shidai Seiremon.) The 1st one is the Northern Black Ridge Gate (Kokuryomon), The South Red Hollow Gate (Shuwaimon.)The Eastern Blue Stream Gate (Shoryumon), and the Western Gate (Hakutomon.)

The walls of Seireitei are made of a rare stone called Sekkiseki that cancels out other reiryoku. The stone also forms a barrier around the city (Above and Below), stopping anything spiritual from breaking into Seireitei. The walls of Seireitei is commonly held up, (it only closes in a emergency) When it is not functioning the walls protect the Soul King's Palace (Located in the inner most Dimension).

Information about Seireitei is very secretive. What most people know is that there is a jail on the hill in the center of Seireitei. The jail houses the criminals of Soul Society. Across the Jail sits the Sokyoku,where prisoners are executed. Those who are granted permission to live in Seireitei are the Shinigami and Noble Families. Shinigami live in their division barracks and higher ranking Officers have their own home.  The majority of the residents of Seireitei (noblemen and Shinigami) do not interact with the citizens of the Rukongai District.  However, residents of the Rukongai District like Renji and Rukia are able to apply to the Shin'o Academy due to their high spiritual pressure.  That is the only way to escape the Rukongai District.
